Mandy has worked in the hair industry for the past 20 years. She has been a hair stylist in Vancouver’s busy Yaletown district, Victoria’s LOJO shopping district, and now in her beautiful West Coast inspired shop: Hunt & Gather hair company. Mandy has worked and trained with some of the top stylists in the industry. Her training includes techniques in advanced colouring, precision and texture cutting, multicultural hair, extensions, keratin smoothing, barbering, bridal and session styling. Her work has graced the pages of multiple publications, most notably, British Vogue, Vanity Fair and Salon Magazine. She won Texture Hairstylist of the Year 2022 in the Contessa Canadian Hairdressing awards. She has been a two time semi-finalist for Canadian Hairdresser of the Year 2021/2022, session stylist of the year 2019 and salon team of the year 2015. She has been voted a supreme by bangstyle.com 4x over. Her bridal work is award winning and has appeared on some of the top Canadian wedding blogs.
Mandy is passionate about her community and helping to uplift others through her craft. She has volunteered with local community groups- Our Place, Bridges for Women, The Cridge center for the family and the Vancouver Island Wedding Industry Association. She has twice been the head stylist for Victoria Fashion Week, Fashion Splash and volunteered backstage for Vancouver fashion week. Her volunteer work with the Cridge Center For The Family, Bridges For Women and Our Place Society are areas of great pride for her. Mandy’s passion for animals has led her to carry only cruelty free products at Hunt and Gather and take on sustainable practices to help protect the environment.
Hunt and Gather hair company is Mandy’s home away from home. Mandy founded the company in 2016. Hunt & Gather hair company has grown from a one woman operation to a five chair salon of independent stylists in the heart of downtown Victoria. As of 2021 Hunt & Gather is Green business, ocean safe and Carbon Neutral certified. In just a few short years, it has grown in reputation as one of Victoria’s top salons. Hunt & Gather has been voted top 3 Best of the City salons for the past three consecutive years. The laid back atmosphere, and west coast vibe creates a welcoming environment for those who visit. The team at Hunt & Gather boasts a crew of Independent stylists, all with over a decade each of experience. The seasonal photoshoots offer the team an opportunity to express themselves creatively and showcase the beauty of the West Coast.
When Mandy isn’t busy running the salon, working behind the chair, and styling for weddings and editorials, she spends her time experimenting with photography and raising her daughter with her wonderful husband and cats.
